How to connect your PC or laptop to TV
Posted in Windows | Tags: Cable, Hardware, HDTV, S-Video, TV, TV, VGA
With the increase in downloads of films and the Internet is increasingly aptecivel watch them on your TV with friends, instead of viewing them through the monitor, or even having to see them on TV without burning any CD or DVD.
In this article I will make a presentation on how you can connect your PC or laptop to your home TV, using a variety of solutions, these can vary from TV to TV.
See below some of the methods that can be used.
# 1 S-video
This is probably the most popular solution today, a lot because of the cheap cable, and S-video input that is found in almost all TV's.
Have to take into account when buying a cable that has S-video input on your computer / laptop. Have to take into account that there are two types of S-video, those of 4 and 7 pins. Most computers / laptops are equipped with input pin's 7 so if your TV has only one input pin 4's that combination will not work.
# 2 VGA
If you have an HDTV (high definition) then the solution will certainly go away by turning on your computer / laptop via a VGA cable. The VGA cable will give you the higher quality and is a cheap cable, as cable S-Video. The older TV's do not bring this port, so only work with HDTV's.
# 3 DVI
The DVI (Digital Visual Interface) works with a DVI cable that will bring superior quality to the quality of the cables S-video and VGA.
The DVI port will have to be present on your computer / portable and you need an HDTV as the VGA. This cable, unlike the VGA and S-video is not as cheap but already by just over € 10.
# 4 HDMI
Using HDMI will build on the quality of your HDTV to the fullest. Computers do not bring common HDMI port, but you can always buy a converter cable for DVI to HDMI cable to connect to your HDTV. HDMI is compatible with DVI.
# 5 VGA Converter
This is in my opinion the worst choice, because of the high price of the converter. Converter will allow you to connect through the VGA port of your computer / laptop to the S-Video port on your TV.
Hope that helps!

I bought the cables and an adapter and plugged everything but not me nothing appears. Someone help me?
ThunderWolf says:
Hello Fabio, I assume that everything you have already connected but still nothing works, what should be happening is that the graphics are not prepared to send the image to another device (in this case the TV) so you need to do is go to settings graphics card in order to define where the image is going.
You can try to click right on the bottom of the desktop> Properties> Settings and check the video card you have installed, then depending on the card should be an application of the board that governs all of the graphics card options.
If you want i put the plate onto which you can try to help.

Now living ThunderWolf. My cable is an S-video cable, 4 pins, I think that's how you say. Yes I have an HDTV tv but I wanted to connect to a normal. I have this cable and have a thread adapter to connect to the television through normal scart. Thus, I call all the TV and methodology in AV and not appear absolutely nothing. I already tried to set up and I can not and also have pressed the FN F3 and yet not of anything. My laptop has a tv card and when I connect the cable, the portable can not see what this amounts to the tv but I can not see on TV what this amounts to the portable. Please help me please. I would even get it to give. Abraço.

Hello good,
I have a Sony VAIO VGN-nw21ef with ATI Raedon 4570, would like to know how to connect to one of the old tv, I bought 2 cables one VGA and one VGA (female) / Scart, for what I did was the following, called a cable vga to portable and then I called the other end the other cable (female) VGA / Scart (female, I think I can call it that) and its TV scart will, so far things are going well.
In the settings of the TV card does not appear but I think that other display setting is also ok, it recognizes the tv but the screen is all black, already tested in the TV AV1 and AV2 and nothing, someone help me? is it the cables or the tv?
Thanks
