RSS 2.0 (Really Simple Syndication)

O RSS, abreviação de “Really Simple Sydication” que em português seria qualquer coisa como “distribuição realmente simples”, é uma maneira de distribuir informação por meio da Internet que se tornou numa poderosa combinação de tecnologias, a pull e a push.

A tecnologia pull é a tecnologia que permite ao utilizador que subscreve ao serviço obter as informações, a push é a que envia automaticamente as informações ao utilizador que subscreveu ao serviço.

Finalidade do RSS

O RSS é basicamente um serviço de indexação das ultimas noticias publicadas nos blogs e sites que visitamos diariamente, para que isto aconteça temos que subscrever ao feed RSS de cada site/blog. Normalmente os feeds RSS só estão disponíveis em sites actualizados com regularidade.

Isto é bastante útil porque para um utilizador diário da web que todos os dias visita dezenas de sites, pode agora com este serviço subscrever ao feed RSS dos seus sites favoritos sem ter que lá ir diariamente perdendo tempo porque muitos blogs nem são actualizados diariamente. Assim simplesmente podemos ler todas as ultimas noticias dos nossos sites favoritos no mesmo lugar poupando imenso tempo.

Somente iremos ao site/blog pretendido se o mesmo ter noticias novas.

O que são feeds (fontes) RSS

Um feed RSS é um ficheiro gerado pelo site/blog que contém uma versão resumida das ultimas informações publicadas no site/blog. O sistema de RSS permite que os utilizadores subscrevam em sites que fornecem feeds (fontes) RSS, para que possam ser acompanhadas através de leitores de RSS.

Normalmente uma feed num determinado site/blog é normalmente indicado com uma imagem do seguinte género.

Como ver o RSS

Cada Feed RSS dispõe do seu próprio endereço na Internet e pode ser acedida a partir de qualquer navegador, no entanto, a maior parte das feeds contém código que não é facilmente compreendido pelo utilizador normal da web. Como tal, para ler os conteúdos de uma Feed é necessário ter um leitor de Feeds.
